- Popular Nollywood director Jade Osiberu faced criticism over an old political tweet she made about Peter Obi
- Her tweet was tagged as ‘bigotry’ for not supporting Peter Obi prior to the 2023 presidential elections
- Netizens storm comment section to criticise her alleged support for the current administration
Nollywood writer and director Jadesola Osiberu recently came under fire on social media over an old political tweet she made prior to the 2023 presidential elections.
The old tweet, originally made on May 2, 2022, was shared by an X user who accused the director of being a tribal bigot for not supporting Peter Obi and now for complaining about the present administration.
In a recent X (formerly Twitter) post, Jadesola had tweeted about her busy schedule and how she has been lazing around despite the present economic state of the country.
“My to-do list is mad long but what have I been doing all day? Social media dopamine scrolling. In T-pain’s economy?! Wonderful!” she wrote.
Reacting to her post, on Tuesday, October 1, an X user identified as Orji_Okosisi1 shared a picture of the Nollywood director’s old tweet to express his view on her recent tweet.
“Were you not the same tribal bigot who said during the election that he's good at multiplying wealth, while Peter Ob isn’t? How come you’re now calling him “T-pain?” I detest folks like you with every fiber of my being. This was you during the 2023 Presidential election buildup.” he said.

The tweet sparked mixed reactions under comment sections, with many criticizing Jadesola’s old tweet. They wondered why she was complaining about the current administration.
Nollywood director Jadesola defends herself amid criticism
Following the response of the X user suggesting that her old tweet made her a bigot, Jadesola defended herself and cleared the air on her stand.
In a series of response tweets, she made reference to her popular 2022 film, Gangs of Lagos, which, according to her, criticised the All Progressive People’s Congress (APC) political ideology.
In her words, “You guys have been going wild since yesterday on this one tweet. I made a whole film critiquing APC’s political ideology and structure for which I was targeted and sued to court! I did not believe in Peter Obi either, which is my right and doesn’t make me a tribal bigot!
This is part of the critical thinking problem I was talking about yesterday. You idiots combed through my entire timeline and couldn’t find a tweet supporting the current administration but you found a tweet that isn’t in support of your messiah and I’m a bigot?! You’re idiots!
You cannot bully and insult people into believing in a candidate. You can engage intellectually and provide evidence that would convince them. At least that’s what you would expect sensible people to do.” she expressed.
