In celebration of his birthday, Nigerian singer, Inetimi Odon, popularly known as Timaya, has released his ninth studio album Gladiator across all music platforms.
Gladiator album, which was earlier announced on August 7, features special appearances from popular Afrobeats artistes like Olamide, Phyno and Tiwa Savage.

Timaya, known for his combining Nigerian pop with elements from dancehall, hip pop and as soca, shared a promotional video of the album on his official X (formerly Twitter) while also wishing himself a happy birthday celebration.
In another video shared on his page, Timaya gave fans reasons to listen to his album particularly because ‘it is sweet,’ according to him.
“Yo, ladies and gentlemen, this album is sweet. Just go try it on the 15th of August. Gladiator album. If it is not sweet, no pay, promise.” he added.
Timaya’s new album is released under Dem Mama Records, founded by the 43-year-old singer.
Celebrating Timaya’s impact in Afrobeats
His debut album ‘Dem Mama’ is a timeless track that many fans remember him for. The artistic and social-themed track mirrored the Odi Massacre in Nigeria at the time. 18 years after his debut album True Story, Timaya confirmed with his ninth studio album Gladiator that he would not stop music any time soon.
The multiple award-winning singer has been consistently active in the Nigerian music scene since 2005. He is a recipient of four Headies Awards, two Afrima Awards and one Nigeria Music Award all for his exceptional blend of Reggae, Dancehall and Hip Hop.
In 2018, Timaya received his first-ever Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album for his feature on the track Reggae Night off Morgan Heritage's album Avrakedabra. Timaya is ranked among the generation of Afrobeats legends such as 2Baba, D’banj, Don Jazzy, PSquare and 9ice, who have heavily impacted the sounds and versatility of the music genre.
Notably, his record label, Dem Mama, has produced popular acts like Patoranking, Runtown and many others. Some of his popular hits include Cold Outside, Telli Person, Bam Bam, I Can’t Kill Myself and Tomato.

Earlier, TheRadar reported that Nigeria singer Oladapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D'banj, teased a new album release, emphasizing that he never left the music industry.
Best known for his ‘Oliver Twist’ hit record, Dbanj’s new album, ‘The Entertainer: D’Sequel’, shares the same title as his 2008 album. It will be released at midnight, on Friday, August 16.
