Nigerian music executive Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Teebillz, stirred conversations online after sharing his unconventional approach to parenting.

Taking to Instagram, TeeBillz revealed he had welcomed his 18-year-old daughter’s boyfriend into their home, a decision he said reflected his belief in guiding children through real-life experiences rather than enforcing rigid rules that could lead to rebellion.

In a now-deleted post that went viral, Teebillz wrote,

I’m very proud to welcome my daughter’s boyfriend to my home at 18 rather than caging her to be rebellious.”

He went on to express pride in teaching his daughter to choose wisely, adding that her partner is a respectful young man with strong values.

I’m so proud to teach her to be with an excellent Black young man with honours, respectful, loving, from good two-parent homes,” he noted.

Teebillz also reflected on his success as a parent, stating that raising a daughter through 18 years of private education in Los Angeles is a significant achievement.

He added,

To raise a child for 18 years in a private school in Los Angeles no be beans! I know my mother is proud of me.”

Teebillz concluded by asserting, “My daughter, my business.”

In a light-hearted moment, he praised his daughter's boyfriend, Kobe, for his maturity during their discussion. He recounted Kobe’s response to the question,

What do you like about my daughter, Kobe?” with, “I’ve never met a girl smarter than me…” He concluded with gratitude, saying, “Thank you for raising her, sir! God bless you, Kobe, for being a better man than me after talking to him…. what’s your cashapp Kobe #ProudDad.”

Teebillz’s post drew mixed reactions. While some commended his openness and progressive mindset, others felt that such matters were best kept private.
