- Netizens commend Rema’s record-breaking abilities as an artiste
Afrobeats singer Divine Ikubor popularly known as Rema, has yet again set another exclusive milestone with his record-breaking Calm Down track.
The hit song, which featured popular American singer and actress Selena Gomez, has continued to amass impressive charting numbers, including recently reaching over 1 billion views on YouTube.
Via an X (formerly Twitter) post on Monday, December 16, Album Talks shared news of Rema’s Calm Down being certified in Norway, the first time an African artiste has done so.
“Rema's "Calm Down" featuring Selena Gomez has now been certified Platinum in Norway. Rema becomes the first African artist to get a certification in the country,” it captioned.
With this new feat, Rema adds another milestone to his impressive catalogue for the year 2024, including his most recent headlining news at the first-ever Afro Jam festival in Japan.
Calm Down has remained one of Rema's critically acclaimed global hits since its release on February 11, 2022, off his debut studio album, Raves and Roses.

Album Review: “HEIS” is Rema’s monotonous outburst for recognition
Meanwhile, earlier, TheRadar reviewed Rema’s album. It solidified an evolution in the 24-year-old's artistic journey, but it signalled a monotonous outburst to seek recognition.
Considering the title of the album and its meaning, Rema, born Divine Ikubor, made a rather bold declaration of himself as “number one” in the music game - which is quite controversial.
