Nigerian legendary singer Onyeka Onwenu, who recently died, would be buried in the Ikoyi axis of Lagos.
72-year-old Onwenu, before her death on July 30, has been in the music scene since the 1980s, debuting her album ‘For the Love of You’ in 1981. She was also significantly present in politics and activism.
Via the burial arrangement details, according to Channels, on Friday, August 30, the Funeral service will be held at the Fountain of Life Church, Illupeju, while the burial ceremony will take place at a private vault in Ikoyi.
An attached burial flier also shows the venue details and time of the ceremony for the late legendary singer.
The service of Songs was scheduled for 10 am to 12 noon while the burial ceremony would be held at 2-4pm on August 30.
Onyeka Onwenu is survived by two sons; Tijani Ogunlende and Abraham Ogunlende. Wearing many hats, Onyeka Onwenu was an all-rounder in Nigerian media, social and political space.
Onyeka Onwenu was a songwriter and singer. Originally a secular artist, she made a switch to gospel in the 90s mostly singing about mutual coexistence, loving one another, the plight of children and other social issues.
