Nigerian comedian and skit maker Mark Angel has been called out by his former colleague Denilson Igwe for defrauding him and child comedian, Emmanuella.

Denilson alleged that he was paid N50,000 while Emmanuella was paid N20,000 per month for their talent while Mark Angel made about $160,000 per month.

He said this on the popular Honest Bunch podcast released on Monday July 29. Denilson also made some daring accusations against Mark Angel. He alleged that they were often called to perform in various countries and Mark Angel hid every penny made from those trips.

On the show, Denilson called a couple of people who corroborated his story. He alleged that he started Mark Angel Comedy and that they recorded videos with a church’s camera.

As proof of his claims, he posted a video of the contract on Instagram. He captioned it: “Evidence plenty am not chasing clout. Just that some people felt they rich and influential. Forgetting days of little beginning, all the suffer, the struggle, the prayers for better tomorrow now the tomorrow don come.”

The content creator also expressed concern for Emmanuella who is now a young lady and still lives in Mark Angel’s house.

Recall that Alibaba revealed that Mark Angel makes $300,000 monthly on the same Honest Bunch podcast.

Nigerians react to allegations against Mark Angel

Some Nigerians did not believe the content creator and preferred to wait for Mark’s side of the story before airing their opinion on the matter.

While some expressed their anger at the revelations, others thought he should take up the matter legally.

Here are some of the comments:

@Great_Asorock posted: “I wouldn't blame Denilson for not defining the roles. He thought he was dealing with a brother not knowing he was dealing with a reaper.”

@aviationfiles6988 posted: “Mark angel is a wicked man. In 2013 I started blogging with nothing coming in but in. 2015 I started seeing 8m per year. By 2016 got a house. In 2018 started seeing 2k dollars per month. Now relocated outside Nigeria where I further my education.. All family members benefitd from this, they occupied my buildings back home. God bless us to help others around us.”

@tamiausten873 posted: “Denilson Igwe Comedy is his YouTube channel name. Please let's storm that channel, I've gone there, Denilson is very funny. I was a bit skeptical but I was quickly reminded that Denilson was the star. From bike man, pastor, blind man etc, Denilson is funny to watch. Please let's support him.”

@shittumustapha9636 posted: “Back then when I started watching their comedy. I use to tell my bro “ why will the name of the channel be MARKANGEL COMEDY when all of them are contributing equally”

So I already suspected him as a greedy person and I wasn’t surprised when Dennis left.”

@yemisiomotosho556 posted: “Did you guys notice how he lay emphasis on Emmernuella and Sucess being alone with a lot of guys in the house? That speak a lot.”

@wilsonemmanuel6305 posted: “Everyone that started watching skits from early 2010s especially here in PH knows that Denilson was first popular before Mark and Emmanuella.”

@vincentesther2854 posted: “As a lawyer, my opinion is that the contract is void. Any contract involving an illiterate must contain an illiterate jurat. Also, there was duress and misrepresentation which are part of the factors that void a contract.”

@uchechukwuleonard8080 posted: “Please bring in Mark Angel, Let's hear from him so that we can know what really happened and also know the truth,it's not fair to hear only from Denison Igwe alone.”

“Intellectual theft or unpaid promotion?” Brainjotter faces backlash over gift to Gwo Gwo Ngwo song owner

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that Nigerian skit maker and content creator Chukwuebuka Emmanuel, popularly known as Brainjotter, came under fire for creating a dance trend to an old song and offering the owner of the song N2 million.

Many on social media feel Brainjotter should have rewarded the man with more money, given that he stood to benefit way more than the ‘stipend’ he was offering. Others felt the song owner, Mike Ejeagha, should be grateful for the unexpected virality in the first place.
