- StatiSense’s research says Google and Xvideos are among the most visited websites by Nigerians in the month of June 2024
- The report sparked controversy on social media considering the religious stand of Nigeria
- Netizens share mixed reactions to the report, as most people seem shocked
Recent research on the most visited websites on mobiles by Nigerians in June has recorded Google and an adult-rated streaming platform, Xvideos, in the first and second spots.
Google, an Information Technology Corporation, attained the first position with a total of 382.68M visitors, while Xvidoes came second with 52.02M visitors. Followed closely in third spot is Sportybet, which garnered a total of 46.44M visitors.
The report, currently trending on X (formerly Twitter), was shared on the official page of the research company StatiSense on July 25. It shows the most visited websites by Nigerians.
According to the research, Betja, a sports betting company, ranked fourth with 36.7M visitors, approximately 10 million less than its counterpart, Sportybet. On the other hand, Facebook, one of the leading social media platforms, ranked fifth with 30.86M visitors from Nigeria.
The findings of the recent research sparked controversy among Netizens on social media. Many found it hard to believe that an adult-rated website like Xvideos and sports betting companies like Bet9ja and Sportifybet were the most visited by Nigerians.
Majority of their opinions suggested that Nigeria, being one of the diverse and religious countries should not have such websites as the most visited.
