Since the Headies Awards, formerly known as ‘Hip Hop’ debuted in 2006, it has witnessed Nigerian artistes win in different categories. The ‘Next Rated’ is one of them.
The Award body has been consistent in supporting and promoting Nigerian music by acknowledging talents and arts in the music industry.
The ‘Next Rated’ category is given to emerging artistes who have shattered boundaries in the industry to set remarkable standards for themselves.
Popular singer, Asa was the first ever recipient of the award in 2006. Alongside the plaque, she was also presented with an SUV car prize.
The Headies, in 2022 announced that the Next Rated category will no longer be presented with an SUV car but a brand new 2022 Bentley Bentayga, valued at over N300 million.

Headies: Afrobeats ‘Song of the Year’ since inception
