Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has broken her silence on the controversy surrounding The Honest Bunch Podcast, its host Nedu, and social media personality VeryDarkMan.
In a statement shared on Monday, February 17, Jegede addressed the situation, expressing her desire to distance herself from the ongoing drama.
Her revelations quickly gained traction online, drawing reactions from netizens by Wednesday, February 19.
Reflecting on her experience, Jegede described her appearance on the podcast as unpleasant. During the show, she spoke out against the double standards in the criticism of Yul Edochie’s second marriage, pointing out that many of those condemning him were in similar situations themselves.
However, her comments sparked a wave of online trolling, with some critics even targeting her young son’s social media page which led her to take the page down.
In her Instagram post, she didn't hold back in calling out Nedu for allegedly aggravating the negativity online while simultaneously reaching out to her privately for an intimate relationship.
“While this was happening, Nedu, who was in my WhatsApp messages asking me out, was simultaneously posting materials that further fueled the negative attacks on me. Even people flooded my son's social media page cursing and swearing at him, I had to take his page down.”
Yvonne Jegede speaks on the podcast's impact on her brand
Yvonne's lengthy Instagram post detailed the challenges she faced. According to Jegede, the clips from her episode were manipulated for promotional purposes and attracted unwanted attention and backlash. She expressed frustration over the way her words were distorted, harming her public image.
"The clips cut from my episode on that show for promotional purposes were designed to attract trolls, and my brand was subjected to all sorts of dragging,"
she wrote, articulating the confusion and hurt that came from the situation.
“The worst part was people claiming, based on a press release from The Honest Bunch Podcast, that I must have paid for my interview feature. That is totally untrue. I could not have paid to appear on a show for a movie I neither produced nor owned.”
She added.
Jegede forgives Nedu and The Honest Bunch Podcast
Despite the turmoil she experienced, Jegede has chosen the path of forgiveness. She made it clear that she holds no grudges against Nedu or the podcast.
“I have forgiven both Nedu and the show,” she stated, indicating her commitment to moving forward rather than becoming entangled in further drama.
Her message also carried a deeper reflection on integrity and the need for compassion in difficult times: “The best time to kick a man is certainly not when he is down,” she noted. By wishing Nedu well, she encouraged the importance of learning from mistakes rather than revelling in someone’s misfortune.
Jegede removes herself from the podcast controversy
Jegede concluded with a simple but emphatic plea for respect: “Please, I kindly request that my name not be dragged into this drama.”
She further stated her experience has taught her valuable lessons about dealing with people and self-preservation.
“I hope he learns from this experience and realizes that we gain nothing; not even YouTube views by bringing others down,”
she asserted.

@Dailymercytye commented: “VDM finally finished nedu. He’s the one who gave all these people the privilege to express their minds and speak out. Next time you hear VDM’s name, you will run. And as for that useless Deewarm, he thought he could tackle VDM, but in the end, it was Nedu who suffered for it.”
@elvisodese51 commented: “You have not forgiven him, if you have this information wouldn’t be necessary at this time, learn to always speak when you feel hurt.”

@Nameremnjoku commented: “Podcasts, staged, Hunt game show, staged, Trolls, scripted,
Roadside interviews, staged. Couples making videos as if it’s unaware videos, staged. The only person you can trust in Nigeria is yourself, that’s if you’re being honest to yourself.”
