Veteran Fuji musician, Alhaji General Kollington Ayinla, has boldly declared that he remains the undisputed king of Fuji music, stating that no rival, past or present, could lay claim to his position in the genre.

Speaking in an interview on Agbaletu TV, Kollington addressed questions surrounding his absence at the burial of the mother of fellow Fuji icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate. According to him, his decision not to attend stemmed from multiple unanswered calls to K1, including one on New Year’s Day.

“I called him several times, he didn’t pick up nor return the calls. So, I left him alone,” Kollington said.

Taking direct aim at K1’s growing influence in the industry, the Fuji legend criticised what he perceived as an overreach of authority, particularly following K1’s installation as the Mayegun of Yorubaland by the Alaafin of Oyo, a title that confers influence in cultural spheres.

“If it is because he is the head of the princes, that is only in Ijebuland, not in the fuji industry. Even if he says he wants to be the head of fuji, does he want to be God?” Kollington quizzed.

Kollington affirmed that no one could dethrone him, even referencing one of K1’s songs to buttress his claims of supremacy in the Fuji world. He added that while K1 may enjoy fame and networks, it does not equate to leadership in the Fuji genre.

“I am the authority of fuji music in Nigeria and abroad. When they ask who is the head of fuji, here and overseas, it is my name that will be mentioned,” he asserted.

This statement comes days after a video of K1 surfaced on YouTube via Dele Adeyanju’s page, where the Mayegun narrated his beginnings in music. He credited Sikiru Ayinde Barrister with encouraging him to start singing during their time in the Nigerian Army and spoke about the struggles he faced while building his Fuji career.

Saheed Osupa celebrates Pasuma on his birthday

Earlier, TheRadar reported that ace Fuji musician Saheed Osupa extended his congratulations to his rival-turned-friend, Alabi Pasuma, in celebration of his birthday.

For years, Pasuma and Osupa had been involved in a bitter feud fuelled by comparisons and deep allegiance from their fans. Initially, the two music icons were close, but as they reached the peak of their careers, their fans split into factions, leading to a toxic rivalry. The feud resulted in violent clashes, damages, and even police intervention. However, after two decades of animosity, Pasuma and Osupa finally put their differences aside.
