  • Lande appealed to Nigerians to beg Akindele on his behalf, stating it was a slip of tongue and made a mistake by sharing false information

Nigerian comedian and actor Ijoba Lande has apologised to actress and movie producer Funke Akindele for tarnishing her image in a viral video.

In the video, Lande claimed that Akindele paid him N90,000 for a one-month movie production job.

However, in a new video posted on Friday, April 4, Lande retracted his statement, saying that the video was edited and manipulated by evil-minded individuals.

While prostrating remorsefully, he explained,

"All mothers in the world, please have mercy on me. I plead with you, don't let me go to jail, please help me plead with aunty Funke.
“The video I did was different from what was posted. The video posted was a cut-and-join. I have no intention of defaming you, you help me, did me a favour.
“You people that edit videos, you are wicked, it is not fair because that was not how I did the video. You edited the part that I said 90 and posted it online.”

He revealed that Akindele actually paid him N190,000 for the job and praised her as a generous and kind-hearted movie producer.

Then it was not N90k, it was N190k, and I said in the video that it was N190 thousand and I was not the only one in the video, Iya Ọgbà was there and we were speaking good about her deeds in the industry. You evil doers now highlighted where I made a mistake and shared it online.”.

He expressed his fear against facing the legal repercussions of the viral video, pleading, he went further,

Have mercy on me, don't ruin my life. Now if they sue me and ask me to pay a fine, where am I supposed to get the money from?”

Lande appealed to Nigerians to beg Akindele on his behalf, stating that it was a slip of tongue and that he made a mistake by sharing the false information.

He emphasised  that what brought the discussion was the awareness he was bringing to upcoming actors to know the importance of negotiating prices before taking on a job, regardless of the producer's reputation.

He stated that some producers can be users while others might not be aware of the money being paid.
