Nigerian on-air personality and actress Omotunde Adebowale-David, popularly known as Lolo, has taken to social media to share her ordeal after allegedly being attacked by police escorts attached to a Lagos lawmaker.
In a distressing video, the actress, best known for her role as ‘Adaku’ in Jenifa called on the Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, claiming her rights had been violated. She alleged that the officers threatened to shoot her and her companions.
According to Lolo, the officers, who were driving a branded vehicle, pushed her off the road and seized her car key.
She stated;
“Lagos, come and see. Governor Sanwo-Olu come and see your people. They want to kill us. They are threatening to shoot us. Over what?
“One Honourable is in that car, wicked people. They pushed us off and still asked us to park. We will not move and whatever Honourable is in that car will come outside.
I am a press personnel.”
Lolo narrates her encounter with police escorts
Following the incident, Lolo spoke in an interview with News Central, shedding more light on what transpired. She described the experience as terrifying, explaining that she was on her way to an event when her car was suddenly pulled over.
A government convoy boxed her in, and several men confronted her, accusing her of hitting one of their vehicles. However, Lolo insisted they were the ones who damaged her car.
She claimed the men took her car keys and ordered her to get into their vehicle. Lolo refused, feeling oppressed and intimidated. As a tax-paying citizen, she asserted that she had done nothing wrong.
Despite the intimidation, Lolo refused to back down, insisting that she knew her rights and would not be oppressed.
Despite their attempts to pressure her, Lolo stood her ground, insisting on her rights. In a dramatic moment, she sat on her car, demanding that the officers return her key and vowing to take further action if necessary.
She described the experience as harrowing and said she's still shaken by the encounter.
She said;
“The police officers had stopped the car; they said I scratched the government car, and they were the ones that scratched me. Three of them came out to my car, took my car key, ordered me into their car... and I said no.”
“It was a harrowing experience for me and I am still shaking.”

@fhyvourherself_themediagirl commented: “The situation in Nigeria keeps exposing deep rooted issues of power misuse and disregard for citizens' rights. The fact that those meant to protect the people often act in ways that make life harder for them is truly concerning. When certain individuals are prioritized over the general public, it raises the question who is really being served?
The bigger issue here is the lack of accountability. When authority figures act without consequences, these incidents keep repeating. Governance should be about fairness, not oppression. If laws do not protect the people equally, then injustice will persist, Nigeria has a long way to go, but change begins when people raise their voices and demand better. We can't afford to be silent. The system must work for everyone, not just a select few.”
