- The elder brother of the Psquare music duo denied the fraudulent allegations leveled against him
- He revealed that he had stopped working for PSsquare in 2016 when the duo fell apart
Jude Okoye, former manager and elder of the PSquare duo, has denied fraudulent allegations levelled against him by his brother, Peter Okoye.
These allegations were raised by Peter Okoye over claims that Jude created a secret music company where he (Jude) siphoned part of PSquare’s royalties.
The discovery, which was allegedly made by Peter, led him to report the case to the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Addressing the allegations, on August 17, via Instagram live sessions, Jude denied all allegations. Jude noted that he had not worked with the P-Square music duo for 8 years.
According to him, the feud between Peter and Paul Okoye has been lingering since 2013 until 2016, when everything eventually fell apart.
“I went to the EFCC office with just Paul. I didn’t go with my lawyer. I gave them all the documents, an officer looked at it and asked if Peter signed. I pointed at his signature for him. I showed him the CAC certificates used in opening both Square Records and Northside Entertainment.
“They were like, you’re even more than P-Square. I said I don’t understand what you mean. They said, look, you’re entitled to 40 per cent shares while the duo are entitled to 30 per cent each. I said, well, I’m not supposed to say it with my mouth, you can see for yourself.
“They started asking me some irritable questions like where I got the money to build my house in Ikoyi. I have not been with P-Square for the past eight years, since 2016.″ Jude explained.
Jude Okoye further revealed that the house in question was financed from the proceeds of selling his house and loans from colleagues.
On resolving the rift between Peter and Paul, Jude shared that people have waded into the issue, including popular celebrities like Emeka Offor, Ifeanyi Uba, Atiku and Peter Obi. However, according to him, as soon as the judgment goes against Peter, he (Peter) flares up.
Jude said he had tried his best to resolve the rift, but at this point, P-Square would have to resolve it themselves.
