Nigerian singer and songwriter, Tiwatope Savage, known as Tiwa Savage, has disclosed that she disliked two songs suggested by her former boss, Don Jazzy, which eventually became hit songs.
The sensational singer revealed that she didn't like the songs Eminado and Durobucci before their release and couldn't grasp why everyone loved it.
Eminado was a 2013 hit off Tiwa Savage’s debut album, Once Upon a Time while Durobucci was a Mavin collaboration hit in 2014.
In a recent interview with Tacha on the Big Friday Show at Cool FM, on October 29, Tiwa Savage noted that Don Jazzy insisted on the two tracks even though she didn't like them and they turned out hit records.
According to her, Don Jazzy held the opinion that the songs would appeal to the market audience and it was the reality.
“When I first started, I felt like that and now, I think I'm so established and I'm like I'm doing what I want to do. But when I first started, a lot of the songs that I didn't personally like. I will.tell you like one, I hated Eminado. I hated that song. When I first heard it and Jazzy played it for me and I was like I don't like it. He said it's going on your album and I'm like no, it's not. He said, this album is not coming out unless you put Eminado on it.
I was just thinking, what is Eminado? And then he was like he understands the market and you know you have to go with Jazzy because that's Don Jazzy. The song blew and I hated it even more because now, I have to perform it every time and now, I have to perform it last because that's what everybody is waiting for.
It was a movement. It was huge and I hate admitting to Jazzy whenever he is right. I did not like Durobucci either, everybody loved it. I was the last person to do my verse and I did not like it. I was like nobody was going to like it and then, the whole of Africa loved it.” Tiwa Savage explained.
