Nigerian filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele has sparked discussions on feminism, marriage, and women's empowerment in a recent video she recorded while conversing with skit maker Kamo State.

The filmmaker, who identifies as a feminist, emphasised the importance of mutual respect and economic independence in relationships.

She rejected the notion that women are the "weaker gender," instead highlighting their strength and boldness. The filmmaker urged men to treat women with special care and respect, rather than confining them to traditional roles or speaking to them disrespectfully.

According to Akindele, women's economic power is crucial in maintaining healthy relationships. She advised women to prioritise financial independence, not only for their benefit but also to support their husbands.

The filmmaker struck a balance between advocating for women's rights and emphasising the importance of respect within relationships.

"I'm a feminist, but I don't support a woman disrespecting her husband," she clarified. "Do what is right, and remember that we are not the weaker sex. We are strong, bold, and deserving of respect."

In the background, Kamo State made a comment stating he is also a feminist and he hates men, this has sparked reactions from netizens, alongside Akindele's view.
