A medical advisory on X (formerly Twitter) has ignited controversy after a health influencer, Doctor Sina, warned men about the risks of certain sexual positions

In a viral post on Tuesday, February 18, he claimed that doggy style, cowgirl, and reverse cowgirl could lead to penis fracture, citing statistical data to support his argument.

His post quickly gained traction, drawing mixed reactions from netizens. While some users took the warning seriously, others dismissed it with scepticism and humour, questioning the validity of his claims.

Doctor Sina cites medical risks and statistics

Doctor Sina, with the handle @the_beardedsina, stated that a study identified doggy style as the riskiest position, accounting for 41 per cent of reported penis fractures. He warned men to reconsider their choices in the bedroom to avoid potential injuries.

He stated:

"As a man there are some sexual positions you should remove from your diary if you don't want to risk landing in a hospital - Doggy, Cowgirl, Reverse cowgirl."

He further explained that the angle of penetration in these positions puts the penis under stress, increasing the likelihood of injury. According to his post, other positions also pose risks, with missionary (man on top) contributing to 25.5% of cases and woman-on-top positions accounting for 9%.

While a few people took note of the warning, others were more sceptical, questioning how a penis, lacking a bone, could “fracture.”

User @_d_grandfather asked, "Fracture"???...for something without a bone?"

Doctor Sina responded

by explaining that: "Yes the Penis can 'Fracture' I guess that word is a Misnomer. The Penis contains a Foam like tissue called 'Corpora cavernosa' when you get aroused, Blood flows inside this foam and it gets hard and you get erect. This 'Foam' is covered by another lining called 'Tunica albuginea. Think of it like a Wrapper covering your Penis.' When the Penis is erect and hard, any forceful trauma or sheer force can tear this wrapper. That tear is what is called a Fracture."

Netizens react with humour, defiance to doggy-style warning

Despite his explanation, the doctor's warning was met with a wave of backlash on social media. Many users accused him of giving unnecessary and unwanted advice. One user, abayomikola, humorously quipped, "Na statistics we go chop."

Another user, @Supaflyest, downplayed the concern, asserting,

"If reason is just risk of Penis fractures no wahala, small thing."

Another user, @arofweb3, refused to change his habits, stating, "

I'm a betting man, was born one, I'll always take risks. So no, I won't stop any of these positions regardless of the said danger involved."

Some users pushed back against the advice, suggesting that the doctor’s warning was unnecessary.

The fervour continued as another user, @yerima_1, expressed disbelief:

"After all the skills You wan tell me to remove doggy for list 😭 sho muminshere ni doctor 🤌."

Some responses took a more subtle threat stance. @D_chefcurry admonished the doctor, stating,

"Thank you for the information, n Doc! Now, don't ever post something like this again! Let it break! I have you as a friend for a reason."

Others questioned why the doctor was interfering in personal choices. @BamiiiDeLe1 echoed this sentiment, asserting,

"See, right now you need to be careful no be you go tell me wetin I go do cuz at this point it’s not making any logical sense to tell me what to do and not do. Keep your knowledge yourself."

Adding fuel to the fire, @AbiolaAdebisi7 invoked the doctor’s previous warnings against the use of ‘Agbo’, saying,

"Na your own you talk ó, make I no take agbo, now na doggy, kosoro nibe Docky."

The backlash revealed a greater tension surrounding topics of sexuality and personal choice.

Highlighting the focus on other positions, @fumiistic raised her concerns about cowgirl, commenting,

"Nawa ooo you people come for the juiciest part of life. I mean I understand Doggy is a shitty position but what did reverse cowgirl do to you??"

In the face of escalating criticism, Doctor Sina finally took to social media to quell the storm with a light-hearted dismissal:

"Oya, you people do your Doggy, E ma pami🙄🙄🙄🚶🚶🚶."
