The announcement and congratulatory message were shared via the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the reality TV show on Sunday, June 14.
“And the winner of #NigerianIdol season 9 is CHIMA! Chima's dreams just came true tonight! Congratulations and here's to a bright future filled with music,” it wrote.
The moment when Udoye was announced winner was also shared on the Nigerian Idol’s official page. It captured suspense-filled and anxious moments the audience endured before Chima was revealed as the winner.
Udoye, who was part of the top 3 finalists, defeated Lammy and Chioma to win the 30 million cash prize, a brand new SUV car, DSTV explorer and one-year premium subscription, a record deal and music video.
About Season 9 winner Chima Udoye
Udoye, is said to be known for his onstage charisma, which made him gain love from Nigerians. His unique vocals have left fans and judges like 9ice, Omawunmi and Ric Hassani in awe of his singing prowess at every performance.
