Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has officially appointed Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia as the state’s Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach. This announcement was made during a courtesy visit by the singer to the governor’s office.
Governor Alia praised 2Baba for his ongoing support and expressed confidence in his ability to contribute more meaningfully to the state’s development through the new role.
“Let me thank you very firstly for supporting my administration and for proclaiming me for 2027,” the governor stated in a now viral video.
“I feel it will not be out of place at all, because you are a guru of entertainment. Once you say ‘2face’ people start dancing, even without you singing.”
Announcing the appointment, he declared, “So we are happy you’re here.
“On behalf of the state government and our very good people, I want to give you some more responsibility, plus the ones you have been doing, because you have the capacity to do some more and help us chart the way forward to improve other people’s lives and to gain more from your wisdom and advisement as well.
“So I’m pleased to announce that we will make you a technical advisor to the governor on entertainment and community outreach.” He said.
This new development has since garnered reactions from netizens who expressed excitement for the artiste, with some linking the milestone to his connection with Natasha Osawaru, while some believed it is downgrading to the artiste's reputation.
