- This has since garnered reactions from netizens across social media platforms
Renowned Afrobeats singer, Asake, has finally addressed allegations of neglect made by his alleged father, Fatai Odunsi.
Odunsi, who has been battling a stroke since 2022, publicly accused Asake of ignoring his calls despite his failing health.
Asake responded to the allegations with a cryptic message on social media, in a Yoruba song that appeared to reflect his perspective on the controversy.
“ó lè t'ye lọrun, t'aye lọrun ("You can't please everyone, please everyone),
Gbogbo nkan to'ba bá ńṣe, má se f'olorun (But anything you are doing, just do it for God.)
Kò deh rántí ojo a mawo ile sún (And remember the day we will all die.)
Abi ó rí, bàbà mi fe cajole mi (Don't you see, my own father wants to cajole me,)
But mo stand mo fit, ẹ lè pá na mi (But I am standing fit and you can't kill me)
Ọmọ ọba mo Man tẹ́wọ́ gan, mo den lọ inú kan, ( I am generous, and loyal)
To ba distract mi, má Move ọn, Life mi ò fe wahala
(If you distract me, I'll move on, I don't want problem.”
Close tó God, Ọlọ́run lón gbé mi lọ. (I'm close to God, and he sustains me.)
Asake’s response offers insight into how he feels about the allegations, suggesting he sees himself as unfairly judged and pressured despite his financial support to his alleged father. Their complicated relationship has become a topic of public debate.
The ongoing drama has fueled intense discussions on social media, with fans and critics divided. While some have sympathised with Asake's plight, others have criticised him for not doing enough to support his alleged father.

“Asake’s father was not absent,” Acquaintances claim as mixed reactions trail his plea for help
Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported after a viral video showed Afrobeat artiste Asake's alleged father, Fatai Odunsi, pleading for financial aid, many netizens have come forward to share their accounts of him.
Asake's former manager, Tunde Phoenix, criticised the artiste, and pledged to start a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for Odunsi’s treatment.
Personal testimonies from those who know Odunsi describe him as a devoted father who raised Asake after his mother left, contradicting earlier speculations that he was a deadbeat father.
