The announcement has sparked widespread enthusiasm and anticipation among fans and industry insiders alike.
The prestigious awards ceremony, organised by MultiChoice Nigeria, recognises outstanding achievements in television, film, entertainment, and digital content creation across Nollywood and the wider African continent on works released between January 1 and December 31, 2024.
This year's nominees list is a shred of evidence of the incredible talent and creativity that Africa has to offer with Seven Doors, Lisabi, and Thinline, among others making it to the list.
With 27 award categories, including 18 decided by a jury and 9 determined by public voting, the competition is fierce.
Two special honours, the Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer Awards, will also be presented.
Leading the pack are top frontrunners Seven Doors, Lisabi: The Uprising, House of Ga’a, and Freedom Way, which have secured multiple nominations across various categories, including the coveted Best Movie and Best Director awards.
Notably, Seven Doors has earned impressive nominations, while Lisabi has garnered over nine nominations, solidifying their positions as frontrunners in this year's AMVCA race.

With the nominations unveiled, the stage seems set for the 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA). The highly anticipated gala night is scheduled for May 10, 2025, at a yet-to-be-disclosed venue.
As Africa's biggest stars prepare to gather and celebrate each other's outstanding achievements in film and television, the AMVCA organisers have announced that public voting is now open for select categories.
The Headies Awards returns in 2025 after hiatus
Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that the 17th edition of The Headies returned and would take place on April 5, 2025.
The highly anticipated Headies Awards has officially kicked off its festivities, which will run from April 5, 2025, to Sunday, April 27, 2025.
According to organisers, the events will commence with the Headies Stakeholders Brunch, followed by nominees' parties, all leading up to the main award ceremony. The annual music awards ceremony is expected to bring together top industry stakeholders, artistes, and fans to celebrate outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry.
