- For the first time, the Headies Festival will celebrate music, culture, and entertainment in a series of exciting events
The highly anticipated 17th edition of The Headies, Nigeria's premier urban and hip-hop culture awards, will take place on April 5, 2025, it has been confirmed, after a hiatus.
The announcement was made on Monday, Janaury 20, by Ayo Animashaun, Executive Producer of The Headies.
In a statement, Animashaun revealed that this year's event promises to be one of the most exciting yet.
"This year’s edition is packed with an extraordinary lineup of events, culminating in a week-long celebration of the industry’s growth and artistic ingenuity," he said.
The festivities will kick off on March 29, 2025 with the Headies Stakeholders Brunch, followed by the highly anticipated nominees' parties.
The awards ceremony itself will then take centre stage on April 5, 2025, where the industry's brightest stars will be recognised for their achievements.
In a move to expand the reach of the event, The Headies will introduce the Headies Festival for the first time.
The festival will feature a series of events celebrating the best of music, entertainment, and culture, offering fans and industry professionals a chance to engage with the vibrant scene.
While organisers have yet to announce the hosts, nominees, or special performances, anticipation is already building for what promises to be a landmark edition of the awards, after last year’s edition failed to happen.
Since its inception in 2006, The Headies has been at the forefront of celebrating excellence in the Nigerian music industry, honouring the achievements of artists and entertainers across various genres.
The Headies Awards: Afrobeats ‘Song of the Year’ since inception
Earlier, TheRadar compiled every song that had won the Afrobeats Song of the Year award at The Headies Awards since 2006.
As an annual music award body, The Headies have consistently shown support to Afrobeats stars and fandom by recognising the song of the year since its inception.
