As a millennial and GenX in the '90s, Papa Ajasco and Company was a classic comedy Television series that evoked nostalgic feelings. 

The classic is coming back to screens with a reboot for the Gen Z audience. Produced by the Wale Adenuga Productions (WAP), the remodelled version of the comedy series hopes to give Gen Zs the same experience. 

Papa Ajasco and Company TV Series started airing across Nigeria in 1997, the programme through its storytelling amassed a very large viewership across generations. 

As the longest-running TV comedy series in Nigeria, its commitment is to remain popular through its refreshing storylines and production styles—Hence, Papa Ajasco Gen Z series. 

7 things you should know about WAP’s Papa Ajasco Gen Z series 

  • The New Papa Ajasco Gen Z comedy series will follow the titular character, Papa Ajasco only that now, he is now a Gen Z Papi.
  • Papa Ajasco’s journey will see him rise to superstardom as a successful Afrobeats musician while engaged in rivalry with another musician, Emperor Agu. 
  • The new remodelled show will retain its original main characters from Biodun Ayoyinka (Papa Ajasco), Kayode Olasehinde (Pa James), Mojisola Oyetayo (Mama Ajasco), Victor Ouebode (Boy Alinco) and Miss Pepeiye. 
  • Supporting characters will be played by notable Nollywood faces from Jide Kosoko, Jude Chukwuka, Francis Odega, and Jaiye Kuti among others. 
  • Papa Ajasco Gen Z series will air on October 15, 2024. 
  • Episodes of the series will air weekly across Nigeria and several parts of Africa via DSTV, StarTimes, GOTV as well as YouTube. 
  • The producer of Papa Ajasco Gen Z series is Wale Adenuga Jr not his dad, Wale Adenuga who produced the earlier classic of the series
