Former United States President and Republican Party nominee for the forthcoming November presidential election, Donald Trump, has raised $25 million to boost his campaign activities. The funds was raised during the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville. This is according to Bitcoin Magazine CEO David Bailey.
The funds was raised after his much-expected speech on Saturday at the venue of the conference, Music City Center. The raiser had about 100 people in attendance and was organised in part by Senator Bill Hagerty.
The event was a massive success and is now regarded as Trump’s “second highest fundraiser ever.”
Bailey took to his X account to announce the success. “For those of you who didn’t hear it in Trump’s speech, DJT raised $25 million in Nashville,” he posted. “His second highest fundraiser ever across three different presidential campaigns. Came from a combo of industry and whales/OGs.”
Trump has effectively courted the cryptocurrency vote and gained support from prominent figures in the industry after making a serious commitment to reform the U.S. regulatory framework. He has raised money from some of the top voices in the industry and made a number of overtures to it during the last few months while on the campaign trail.
An RSVP invitation quoted by The Block indicates that each person attending the former president's "roundtable" on Saturday would have to pay $844,600, with a photo costing at least $60,000. According to Fox journalist Eleanor Terrett on X, attendees included celebrities Kid Rock, Jake Paul, and Billy Ray Cyrus in addition to Gemini co-founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss.
Apart from the millions raised during the Nashville event, since Trump’s campaign started accepting donations of digital assets in May prior to the conference, it has raised $4 million in cryptocurrency, with over $2.15 million coming from just 19 contributors. This seems to be the reason why Trump claimed on stage to have raised $25 million in cryptocurrency already.
In the past, Trump claimed to personally own between $100,000 and $250,000 in cryptocurrency in 2022. Based on a Federal Election Commission filing, his campaign has raised $221 million in total and has $128 million in cash on hand.
With Trump’s soaring support from crypto, Kamala Harris wants to take a position
Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that as November draws close for the United States presidential election, Democrat flagbearer and Vice President, Kamala Harris, is looking to take a position on crypto. This is as Republican Party nominee Donald Trump's support from the crypto industry swells.
According to sources quoted by The Block, Harri’s team has reached out to ask questions and indicated interest in learning about crypto. With this interest, it's expected that Harris will take a position soon.
