- Donald Trump confirms attendance for Bitcoin Conference 2024 in Nashville
- Donald Trump to use the opportunity to ramp up support from the crypto community
- President Joe Biden is unlikely to attend
It's no longer news that the former president of the United States, Donald Trump, was shot at during his campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The attack left him bleeding. But the news is that Trump has confirmed that, despite the attack, he will be speaking at Bitcoin 2024, the world’s largest Bitcoin conference, in Nashville, Tennessee, from July 25 to 27, 2024.
The three-day event organizers announced on X (previously Twitter) that Trump will, in fact, speak to cryptocurrency enthusiasts face-to-face at Nashville's Music City Centre.
Trump's cryptocurrency advisor and CEO of Bitcoin Magazine, David Bailey, confirmed that the candidate is still optimistic and ready to make his speech in Nashville.
“I have just spoken with the president’s team. He is in good spirits and is excited to see you all in Nashville and deliver a speech that is heard around the world,” Bailey posted on X.

Trump was reportedly shot at during his campaign rally in Pennsylvania
Key industry players from around the globe as well as cryptocurrency enthusiasts are anticipated to attend the event. In addition to Trump, notable speakers at the event include comedian Russell Brand, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., tech and finance moguls Cathie Wood, Michael Saylor, and Bill Maher IV, as well as whistle-blower Edward Snowden.
Does Trump really support crypto?
Yes, on several occasions, Trump has made public his support for Bitcoin and crypto. He will be looking to seize this chance to increase his support from cryptocurrency enthusiasts, who will have a big say in the next U.S. presidential elections later this year. He has recently become a fervent supporter of cryptocurrencies and charged the Biden administration with launching a "war on crypto."
Trump's appointment as a speaker is especially noteworthy in light of his recent dedication to the Bitcoin community. Trump pledged his support for Bitcoin mining in Washington, D.C. and globally during a meeting with prominent American Bitcoin miners last month, including representatives from CleanSpark and Riot Platforms.
The ex-president made history when he accepted donations from the Bitcoin Lightning Network. This was in response to remarks he had made earlier in which he expressed his desire for the future of cryptocurrency to remain in America rather than be driven abroad by restrictive laws. In May, Trump declared that if elected president, he would guarantee that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are manufactured in the United States and safeguard the 50 million cryptocurrency owners' right to self-custody.
Trump's romance with crypto and support for Bitcoin is in contrast with the stance of his opponent and current president, Joe Biden. The Biden administration has not hidden its reluctance to embrace Bitcoin but has shown support for a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
The Bitcoin Conference 2024 may serve as a showcase for the divergent perspectives of the candidates on Bitcoin, as Biden has not yet announced his attendance at Bitcoin 2024.

Prominent figures who attended the meeting include S Matthew Schultz from CleanSpark, Jason Les and Brian Morgenstern of Riot Platforms, Salman Khan of Marathon Digital, and Amanda Fabiano of Fabiano Consulting, formerly Head of Mining at Galaxy and Director of Bitcoin Mining at Fidelity.
