Luton Town has made a bold move in the transfer market, signing former Nigeria international Victor Moses as a free agent.

After parting ways with Russian side Spartak Moscow earlier this summer, the experienced winger has found a new home at Kenilworth Road. His signing has drawn praise from Luton manager Rob Edwards, who believes Moses’ versatility will be key as the club seeks to improve its Championship standing.

Moses, a Premier League winner with Chelsea, began his career at Crystal Palace and made his debut in 2007. His talents quickly earned him a move to Wigan Athletic in 2010, where he caught the eye of the English football elite.

A successful 2012 transfer to Chelsea saw Moses become a vital member of the club squad, particularly during Antonio Conte's 2016-17 Premier League-winning season. The Italian manager deployed Moses as a wing-back, a role in which he flourished, helping Chelsea claim the league title.

In addition to his Premier League success, Moses lifted the FA Cup in 2018 and twice won the Europa League during his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

Now 33, Moses brings his wealth of experience to a Luton side struggling to find its footing following their relegation from the Premier League. The team has managed just one point from their opening four Championship matches, and Edwards believes Moses' signing will help turn their fortunes around.

“We think he’s someone who can provide some really good competition for us,” Edwards mentioned in an official statement.

Having already impressed in a behind-closed-doors friendly last week, Moses is expected to be in contention for his debut against Millwall this Saturday. Edwards also emphasised the ex-Nigerian international’s flexibility,

“He gives us more strength in depth and versatility... he’s someone who can play both sides or as a number 10,” the manager said.

Though the length of Moses’ contract remains undisclosed, his addition to the squad will undoubtedly provide Luton with a much-needed boost as they look to navigate the technical challenges and physicality of the Championship, having just relegated from the Premier League.
