  • Alphonso Davies is expected to sign a pre-contract deal in January.
  • The Bayern Munich defender will compete with Ferland Mendy for the left-back spot at Real Madrid.
  • Davies has won five Bundesliga titles and the UEFA Champions League with Bayern.

Real Madrid seems to be on the brink of yet another world-class acquisition, adding fuel to their already fire lineup.

The reigning La Liga and UEFA Champions League holders, who recently signed the likes of Kylian Mbappé and the young Brazilian sensation Endrick, continue their quest for global domination.

The La Liga team is shaping up to be an unstoppable force as they set their sights on further European success this season.

With players like Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr., and Rodrygo all playing key roles, reports suggest that Real Madrid’s defence could soon be bolstered by a sensational signing.

According to Diario AS, Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies is expected to join the Spanish giants on a pre-contract agreement in January. The Canadian international, popular for his blistering pace will most likely become a Real Madrid player ahead of the 2025/26 season.

For years, Real Madrid has kept a watchful eye on Davies, and it now seems the right-back will finally make the move from Germany to Spain once his contract with Bayern expires next summer.

The La Liga side club officials had initially wanted to secure his services this past summer but found Bayern’s valuation of the player too high. Instead, they opted to wait until his deal expires, allowing Davies to join for free just like they got Kylian Mbappé.

The arrival of Davies will increase competition at left-back, particularly for Ferland Mendy, who has been a regular at that spot since joining from Lyon in 2019.

Max Eberl, Bayern’s sporting director, had previously addressed Davies’ contract situation, saying,

“The negotiations have been going on for some time, but then stalled last summer. We made Alphonso a very concrete, appreciative offer... At some point in life, you have to say yes or no.”

Davies, who joined Bayern Munich from the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2018, has enjoyed a decorated career with the German champions. The 23-year-old has won five Bundesliga titles and was a key figure in Bayern’s 2020 UEFA Champions League triumph.

As the January transfer draws closer, it is evident Real Madrid is backing down in strengthening its squad in every area, ensuring they remain top contenders for both domestic and international honours.

Real Madrid sets new record with UEFA Super Cup, Mbappé's debut goal

Previously, TheRadar reported that as the European football season begins, Real Madrid wasted no time in reaffirming their European superiority with a 2-0 victory over last season’s Europa League winners, Atalanta, in the UEFA Super Cup.

Kylian Mbappé, who made his much-anticipated debut on Wednesday, August 14, in Warsaw, Poland, found the back of the net after 68 minutes into his Real Madrid career.
