This season, Haaland marked his 100th appearance with a goal and quickly surpassed 90 Premier League goals after back-to-back hat-tricks against Ipswich and West Ham. He’s already reached the milestone of 100 goals across all competitions after finding the net the last time he played against Arsenal. 

However, he faces tough competition this season from in-form Chris Wood and Bryan Mbeumo. Wood, a revelation at Nottingham Forest, has scored seven goals and moved his team to an impressive third place after ten games. Brentford’s Mbeumo is also level with Wood, pushing Brentford up the standings with his attacking flair.

Last season, people started to wonder if Erling Haaland’s Premier League dominance was slowing down. His goal count dropped a bit, which led to talks that he probably wasn’t as unstoppable as he seemed. But Haaland quickly proved he was still a goal-scoring machine, even in a “quiet” season due to injuries.

Fast forward to 2024-25, Haaland kicked off the season with impressive speed, scoring two hat-tricks in his first three games, showing he's as dangerous as ever. He’s aiming for his third straight Golden Boot, a milestone that only Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry have reached in Premier League history. With his usual power and deadly accuracy, Haaland seems ready to make history yet again, proving doubters wrong.

Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford, 8 goals)

Bryan Mbeumo has made a strong start to this season, and with Ivan Toney's move to Saudi Arabia, the Cameroon international is already playing an important role for Nottingham Forest. 

Mbeumo has created an effective partnership with Yoane Wissa in attack with the latter also contributing five goals to the Bees this season.

Chris Wood (Nottingham Forest, 8 goals)

A strong target-man forward, Wood initially faced some criticism from certain sections of the Forest fanbase for not living up to expectations after his move from Newcastle, first on loan and then permanently. 

However, the New Zealand international turned things around by scoring key goals during the 2023-24 season and has continued that impressive form into the current campaign. The New Zealand captain also recently won the Premier League Player of the Month and became the first player in the club's history to win the award.

Cole Palmer (Chelsea, 7 goals)

Cole Palmer has flourished since his move from Manchester City, his boyhood club, to Chelsea. The 22-year-old scored 25 goals in all competitions during an impressive first season. Palmer's exceptional form earned him multiple accolades, including the Premier League Young Player of the Season, PFA Fans' Player of the Year, and PFA Young Player of the Year awards. 

However, despite his achievements, it was a tough year for Chelsea, who finished sixth under Mauricio Pochettino. Now, with Enzo Maresca at the helm, the Blues are back to winning ways, effortlessly tearing through opponents, with Palmer continuing to make a mark. 

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool, 7 goals)

Mohamed Salah has already netted 6 goals in his first 9 Premier League matches for Liverpool this 2024/25 season. Last season, he scored a total of 18 goals across 32 league games and provided 10 assists, showing just how important he is for the team. It’s no surprise that Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad made a £150 million offer for the 31-year-old Egyptian over the summer. 

However, Salah believed he still had the competitive drive to perform at the top level, and this season, he’s proving just that. Fans are now eager to see if he can continue to challenge Haaland, even as he grows older.

Former Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck, now 33, has become a key player for Brighton in recent years. On Saturday, he scored his 100th career goal during Brighton’s 2-1 win over his former club, Manchester United, early in the season. With 6 goals already this season, it’ll be interesting to see how he performs as the season unfolds, especially given his age.

Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea, 6 goals)

After making a splash as one of Europe’s most exciting young forwards with a breakout season at Villarreal in 2022-23, Nicolas Jackson joined the Blues last summer in a £32 million move. The Senegalese striker had his share of highs and lows in his first Premier League season but still managed to score an impressive 14 goals. With 6 goals this season already, the Senegalese will be looking to top his previous premier league record.
