- Michael Carrick said Manchester United could still mount a late Premier League title challenge
- United moved to third place following a 2-1 comeback victory over Crystal Palace
- The team has won six of their last seven matches, signalling renewed momentum under Carrick
Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has suggested that his side could mount a late challenge for the Premier League title, following their 2-1 comeback victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The win lifted United to third place in the league, behind Arsenal and Manchester City, with their next fixture set against Newcastle United. Currently 13 points adrift of first place, Carrick acknowledged that while a title challenge is possible, the team must remain realistic.
“You cannot rule anything out in football, but we have to be realistic,” Carrick said. “Above us now there are two fantastic teams. Of course, I’m being realistic about it. We have to win a lot of football matches for that to happen.”
United’s recent form has been impressive, with six wins and one draw in their last seven matches, signalling renewed momentum under Carrick’s leadership.
The Red Devils will now look to continue their winning run at St James’ Park as they aim to keep pressure on the league leaders in the closing stages of the season.
