Despite Moses Simon’s goal, Ligue 1 side Nantes fell to a crushing 3-2 defeat against Le Havre at the Stade Océane on Sunday, March 30, with a stoppage-time winner from Timothée Pembélé sealing the hosts' victory.

Abdoulaye Touré was instrumental for Le Havre, converting two penalties in the first half. He gave the hosts an early lead in the 13th minute before Saidou Sow responded for Nantes in the 23rd minute. 

However, Touré restored Le Havre’s advantage with another composed finish from the spot in the 27th minute.

Simon, looking to inspire his side, struck early in the second half to bring the game level again at 2-2. The Super Eagles winger showed his attacking instincts by slotting home in the 48th minute, giving Nantes a fighting chance.

But just when it seemed both teams would settle for a point, Le Havre’s Timothée Pembélé stepped up in stoppage time to break Nantes’ hearts with a dramatic winner.

While Simon found the net, his overall performance was a mix of brilliance and inconsistency. The Nigerian winger managed just one successful dribble out of seven attempts and completed 72% of his passes. He also sent in two accurate crosses from 10 attempts and lost possession 21 times.

Despite these challenges, Simon has been an important figure for Nantes this season, registering seven goals and eight assists in 25 appearances. He has been a consistent presence on the pitch, averaging 81 minutes per game.

With this defeat, Nantes remain in 13th place with 27 points from 27 matches. Their battle against relegation continues as they struggle to find form in the crucial final stretch of the season.

They will need Simon and his teammates to step up in the coming weeks if they are to avoid slipping into further trouble.
