Ademola Lookman, Nigeria’s Super Eagles winger having joined Super Eagles national team in January 2020, recently emerged as Atlanta’s B.C.’s Player of the Season for 2023/2024. An award he has been getting for two consecutive years now as he was awarded in this category in the 2022/2023 season.
Also, he was awarded the LFE Apprenticeship of the Year (Championship) in 2015.
Remarkably, he has achieved some great feats for Atlanta so far. Atlanta qualified for two finals in which Ademola Lookman played a great role in this success.
He was also instrumental in Atlanta's winning the UEFA Europa League, beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the final.
He was announced on Thursday, June 27, 2024 as the Player of the Season for the club.
Atlanta made the official announcement on Thursday in a statement which reads: “It’s him again, Ademola Lookman! The reigning champion defends his title and is crowned straight-a student for the second year in a row after staving off an unsparing competition, to the point of both bringing the contest to an overtime runoff and stepping the posedown up to the Instagram profile after the regular session ended in a tie.”
In the recently concluded 2023/24 season, the 26-year-old recorded 17 goals and 10 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions for the Italian side.

Following Lookman's win, TheRadar compiled a list of other Nigerian footballers who won a trophy with their club in the 2023/24 season or have been recognised with an individual accolade.
1. Victor Boniface
Victor Boniface was one of the people that won the Bundesliga title for the first time in Leverkusen's history. He scored 14 goals and registered 8 assists.
2. Tella Nathan
Tella was also one of the Nigerians that was recognised for the Bundesliga title for his club (Leverkusen's). He achieved a total of 5 goals and 2 assists.
3. Raphael Onyedika
He feathered 30 times and scored 3 goals as Brugge Club clinched the Belgian League.
4. Peter Olayinka
Peter is the 28-year-old who played the entire duration of Red Star Belgrade 2-1 win over Vojvodina in the Serbian Cup final. He was also awarded the Serbian Super League title after scoring a brace for his side in a 4-1 win over Cukaricki. Interestingly, Peter, Boniface and Tella are the only Nigerians to win the double.
5. Kelechi Iheanachio
He helped Leicester return to the Premier League by winning the Championship. He was able to score 5 times for the Foxes.
6. Wilfred Ndidi
Alongside Kelechi, Wilfred helped Leicester return to the Premier League. He scored a total of 5 goals and recorded 5 assists.
7. Christy Ucheibe
Christy Ucheibe is the midfield powerhouse of the Super Falcons and she secured four trophies in Portugal. Her team S.L. Benfica succeeded in winning the Liga BPI (Portuguese league), Taça de Portugal Feminina (Portuguese Women's Cup), Taca de Liga Feminina (Portuguese Women's League Cup) and the Super Taca de Portugal Feminina (Portuguese Women’s Super Cup).
8. William Troost-Ekong
William is a Super Eagles Defender who helped his side clinch the Greek Super League title for PAOK Club. He was crowned the best player of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), as Nigeria was awarded as runners-up in the tournament.
Finidi George resigns as head coach of Nigerian Super Eagles
Meanwhile, TheRadar reported earlier that Findi George resigned from his role as head coach of the Super Eagles, having been appointed head coach on April 29, 2024.
His resignation was announced on Saturday, June 15, 2024, following a poor run of results in the qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup.
