Jürgen Klopp's tenure at Liverpool came to an end last summer, but the world-class manager is far from finished. After leading the Reds for nine years, Klopp's next destination is a strategic role that takes him away from the touchline into the broader world of football management.

Red Bull has reportedly appointed Klopp as their “Global Head of Soccer,” with the coach confirming the news himself, a role that puts him in charge of their esteemed network of football clubs, including RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg.

This career shift for Klopp, confirmed on Wednesday morning, marks a new chapter in his illustrious career. Klopp won't be dealing with the day-to-day rigour of coaching, instead, he will advise on important aspects like player recruitment, coaching strategies, and talent development. Red Bull’s CEO of Corporate Projects and Investments, Oliver Mintzlaff, was reportedly key in convincing Klopp to take on this unique position.

As Klopp prepares to start this new adventure, he remains grounded in his passion for the game. In an Instagram video, Klopp spoke about how this role allows him to stay connected to football while taking a step back from the touchline,

“A few months ago I said I don't see myself on the sideline anymore and it is still the case. But I still love football and working and Red Bull gives me the perfect platform for that.”

Throughout his managerial career, Klopp faced countless highs and lows, and he intends to pass that wealth of experience to Red Bull’s global teams,

“In my career, I fought for promotion, fought against relegation, and fought for titles and trophies. Sometimes we failed, and sometimes we succeeded, I want to learn again because when you're in the job and you have to play every three days, you barely have time for that,” he said.

Klopp’s new contract reportedly includes an option for a return to management if the right opportunity arises, specifically, a move to coach the German national team remains a possibility.

How much will Klopp earn with Red Bull?

For now, Jürgen Klopp is set to earn between €10-12 million annually in his new position, focusing on his long-term goals within Red Bull’s football operations.

Klopp’s new role officially begins in January 2025, and with it, he looks forward to contribute to the future of football on a global scale.
