Tips for choosing the right moisturiser

Having the right moisturizer for your skin may seem a bit difficult, but here are 5 basic things to consider when buying the moisturizer for your skincare.

  1. Skin type: understanding your skin type is an important step when choosing a moisturiser. Dry skin needs a creamier formula that will help lock in moisture, oily skin needs a lighter moisturiser, and combination skin does best with a lightweight, non-greasy moisturiser.

Ageing skin will need a moisturiser formulated with retinol or peptide. Acne-prone skin may need a moisturiser with niacinamide or salicylic acid, while sensitive skin will need a moisturiser with ceramide to help protect the skin barrier.
  3. SPF: Using SPF is important in your skincare as it helps to block the sun's ultraviolet rays. Having a moisturiser with SPF 15 or more will not only block the sun’s UV rays but also help to save costs, as there may not be a need to buy a separate sunscreen.
  4. Labels: Read product labels carefully and look specifically for products that are non-comedogenic, allergy-tested, gentle on the skin, developed and/or approved by dermatologists, and fragrance-free.
