President Bola Tinubu has praised Nasir Idris, the Governor of Kebbi State, for executing a series of major projects across the state, describing him as a leader with vision and a deep commitment to his people.
The commendation came on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi during the official commissioning of the newly completed State Secretariat Complex, a landmark project named after President Tinubu himself. Several other initiatives completed under the Idris administration were also inaugurated during the visit.
“I know what you can do. You are a man of mission and vision. I am always proud of you,” President Tinubu said, describing Governor Idris as a focused leader who prioritises the welfare of his citizens. He further expressed gratitude to the people of Kebbi State for supporting their government, noting that their cooperation has been crucial to the successful delivery of development projects.
Among the projects inaugurated was the Birnin Kebbi Central Motor Park, designed to improve transportation and stimulate economic activities in the state capital. The president also commissioned the newly expanded three-lane road along Emir Haruna Road, the Kauran Gwandu College of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences in Ambursa, and the dualised Old Argungu Bypass.
The State Secretariat Complex, which cost billions of naira, was initially begun in 2012 but was later revived and completed under Governor Idris’s administration. The facility forms part of ongoing efforts to modernise government offices and enhance public service delivery across Kebbi State.
President Tinubu assured Nigerians that the Federal Government would continue to support states in realising development objectives, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, and education.
His one-day visit to Kebbi coincided with the closing ceremony of the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, where he attended as the Special Guest of Honour, highlighting the cultural and economic significance of the festival for the state.
The president’s presence at both the project inaugurations and the festival underscored the administration’s commitment to supporting state-led development and celebrating local heritage while strengthening federal-state collaboration.
