In the video, Agnes recounted the ordeal her family endured beginning on February 9, when her pregnant sister, Susan Okolie, was taken to the hospital for childbirth. According to Agnes, a series of preventable mistakes by hospital staff contributed to the tragic outcome.
Agnes said, “My name is Agnes Oladehinde and I’m a sister to Susan Okolie. We have been in this hospital since Sunday and all we have experienced is unfortunate occurrences.
“This hospital is Gbagada General Hospital and I can tell you for a fact that since we have been in this hospital, every unit we have gone to, there has been a mistake or the other.”
Family accuses Gbagada Hospital of negligence
She highlighted issues such as incorrect names on medical forms and, the failure of doctors to consult her sister about opting for a cesarean section (CS) despite complications during labour.
Agnes stated that the medical team never asked for her sister’s consent to perform a CS, and when complications arose after the baby’s delivery, the doctors claimed they had informed the family of the option but that Susan had refused.
She also alleged that the nephew’s body was wrongfully labelled with another family’s name in the mortuary.
The video, which rapidly went viral, has ignited widespread anger, with numerous people sharing their own stories of alleged malpractice at government hospitals.
