- Supplementary online registration for newly uploaded PCMs will hold from April 9 to April 11, 2026
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a fresh warning to Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) ahead of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course, stressing that discrepancies in names could prevent registration at camp.
In a notice shared via its official X platform on Tuesday, April 7, the scheme emphasised that all PCMs must ensure that their names match exactly across all documents, including certificates and the NYSC portal.
According to the statement, even minor inconsistencies such as spelling variations, rearranged names, missing middle names, or additional initials will not be accepted during camp registration.
The post read,
“Important Notice: Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) whose names in their certificates or statement of results is not exactly the same with the name uploaded to the NYSC portal should contact their Institutions to ensure the name tallies before reporting to camp.”
The scheme noted that this advisory has been repeatedly issued over the years due to recurring challenges faced by corps members during camp registration as a result of name mismatches.
Meanwhile, the NYSC has also released the full timetable for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation exercise, scheduled to begin nationwide on April 22, 2026.
In a statement signed by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, on Wednesday, April 8, the scheme disclosed that the 21-day orientation programme will take place simultaneously across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The Orientation Course will commence with reception and registration of Prospective Corps Members on Wednesday, 22nd April 2026, and end at midnight of Friday, 24th April 2026,” the statement read.
It added, “Prospective Corps Members mobilised for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II service year will be sworn-in on Friday, 24th April, 2026,” while the exercise will officially conclude on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
In addition, the scheme announced that supplementary online registration for newly uploaded PCMs will take place from April 9 to April 11, 2026.
“Supplementary online registration for recently uploaded prospective corps members commences Thursday, 9th – Saturday, 11th April 2026,” the scheme stated.
The NYSC also urged corps members to prioritise their safety while travelling to their orientation camps. It specifically warned against night travel, advising PCMs to break their journey if it gets late and seek shelter in safe locations.
“Prospective Corps Members are advised to break their journeys once it’s 6.00 pm, and pass the night at any available Corps Members’ Lodge, military formation, police station/outpost or palace of a traditional ruler anywhere in the country, then continue the following morning.”
The scheme concluded by wishing all prospective corps members safe travels as they prepare to report to their respective camps across the country.
HND graduates demand equal rights, protest exclusion from NYSC
Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that full-time Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates expressed frustration over exclusion from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme. The protesters demanded inclusion, citing the struggles of transitioning from part-time ND to full-time HND studies.
The NYSC Coordinator assured protesters that their concerns have been communicated to higher authorities for review.
