1. Ronaldo hints at Al Nassr exit with cryptic message: Cristiano Ronaldo has sparked speculation about his future at Al Nassr after sharing a cryptic post on X on Monday, May 26. 

The Portuguese star wrote, “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all,” leaving fans and analysts wondering if he's set to leave the Saudi club. 

Ronaldo’s contract with Al Nassr is set to expire this summer, further fueling rumours of a possible departure.

2. Saudi Arabia bars Gumi from 2025 Hajj, FG steps in: A prominent Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has revealed that he was barred by Saudi authorities from participating in the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage. 

In a Facebook post on Monday, May 26, Gumi disclosed that despite holding a valid visa, Saudi officials were reportedly “uncomfortable” with his presence in the Holy Land, prompting his return to Nigeria. 

He added that the Federal Government has pledged to address the issue with Saudi authorities. Gumi also called for prayers for the safety of other pilgrims and the peace of Nigeria.

3. EFCC recovered funds, made arrests in N1.3tn CBEX crypto fraud — Olukoyede: The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has stated that investors in the failed crypto trading platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), will not be refunded in dollars. 

Speaking during a national television interview on Sunday, May 25, Olukoyede confirmed that the commission has recovered some funds and made several arrests linked to the scheme. 

4. Lagos targets 50% annual slum reduction: The Lagos State Government says it is working toward reducing slums across the state by 50% each year. 

The plan is part of its broader urban regeneration agenda, which has already led to the rehabilitation of 36 roads in various parts of Lagos. 

The update was provided by Dr. Olajide Babatunde, Special Adviser to the Governor on e-GIS and Urban Development, during a press briefing on Monday, May 26, at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Ikeja.

5. Oyo pays Osun N5bn in LAUTECH ownership deal: The Oyo State Government has announced that it has paid N5 billion to Osun State as part of the agreement for the full ownership of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso. 

According to the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, Oyo has been making annual payments of N1 billion since the deal was signed on November 20, 2020. 

With a total agreed sum of N8 billion, the state aims to settle the remaining N3 billion before Governor Seyi Makinde’s tenure ends in May 2027.
