1. FG to deploy 90,000km fibre optic cable to boost internet access: Starting in September 2025, the federal government will roll out a 90,000-kilometre fibre optic network nationwide as part of efforts to enhance broadband penetration, particularly in underserved and rural communities.

The initiative, tagged Project Bridge, is expected to receive a $2 billion investment and aims to significantly improve digital connectivity across the country.

2. Southeast Reps demand cancellation of 2025 UTME over technical glitches: The Southeast Caucus in the House of Representatives has called for the cancellation of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) following widespread technical issues during the test.

The lawmakers also demanded the resignation of JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, citing a "catastrophic institutional failure."

3. Peter Obi: Coalition not about positions, but replacing bad governance: The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has clarified that his involvement in a coalition of opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general election is aimed at ending bad governance, not about political appointments.

Obi made the statement amid reports claiming he had entered a deal to serve as Vice President in a potential alliance with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Adeleke in 2026: The former Senator representing Osun-West, Mudashiru Husain, has declared his intention to contest for the Osun State governorship seat in 2026, vowing to defeat incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke if given the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket.

Husain, who once represented the Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency in Lagos and served as a Commissioner with the National Population Commission (NPC), said his political experience and sacrifices for the party make him a strong contender.
