1. FG declares Easter holidays for April 18, 21: The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays in celebration of Good Friday and Easter Monday. 

The announcement was made on Tuesday, April 15, by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who spoke on behalf of the government.

2. Nigeria’s inflation rises to 24.23% in March 2025 – NBS: Nigeria’s inflation rate climbed to 24.23% in March 2025, reflecting a 1.05 percentage point increase from the 23.18% recorded in February. 

This was revealed in the latest report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

On a month-on-month basis, inflation surged by 3.90% in March, compared to 2.04% in February, highlighting a faster rise in the average price level across the country.

3. 2027 Presidency: I have what it takes, says Makinde: The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed confidence in his ability to lead Nigeria as president in 2027. 

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, April 15,  Makinde said his performance as governor demonstrates that he is capable of handling the responsibilities of the nation’s highest office.

4. EFCC, Interpol launch joint probe into N1.3tn CBEX investment fraud: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced a joint investigation with Interpol into a massive N1.3 trillion fraud involving the digital investment platform, CryptoBank Exchange (CBEX).

The EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the development on Tuesday, April 15, noting that the agency had already begun its probe into CBEX before its collapse.

5. Oyo Assembly takes steps to regulate phone use in secondary schools: The Oyo State House of Assembly has mandated its Committee on Basic and Secondary Education to engage stakeholders on how best to control the use of mobile phones in secondary schools across the state.

The stakeholders to be consulted include the Ministry of Education, the Agency for Mobilisation, and the Ministry of Information, among others.

This directive followed a motion presented by Hon. Olalekan Abiola, representing Akinyele 1 State Constituency, during a plenary session on Tuesday, April 15.
