1. Lucky Aiyedatiwa sworn in as Ondo governor: Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been sworn in as the Governor of Ondo State, commencing his first full four-year term following the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in December 2023.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday, February 24, at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, the state capital, two months after Aiyedatiwa won the governorship election under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

2. NAFDAC workers demand pay raise, cite job risks: Workers of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control have called on the Federal Government to urgently improve their salaries and working conditions.

In a letter dated February 24 and jointly signed by the acting Chairman of the NAFDAC Branch of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria,  Jerry Makeri, and the union’s Secretary,  Aledeh Ahmed, the workers highlighted the agency’s achievements in combating counterfeit products but lamented the alleged neglect of staff welfare.

3. NABTEB releases Nov/Dec 2024 exam results, 67.6 per cent pass: The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of its Nov./Dec. 2024 certificate examinations, with 67.56 per cent of candidates obtaining five credits and above.

The acting Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the board, Dr Nnasia Asanga, announced the results on Monday, February 24, disclosing that out of 44,226 candidates who sat for the National Business Certificate/Advanced National Business Certificate (NBC/ANBC) and National Technical Certificate/Advanced National Technical Certificate (NTC/ANTC) examinations, 29,880 of the candidates met the benchmark for academic and career progression.

4. $4.5bn fraud: Emefiele alleges bias, demands judge’s withdrawal: The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has demanded the withdrawal of Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja from his ongoing trial over alleged $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion fraud.

Emefiele’s legal team, led by Olalekan Ojo (SAN), accused the judge of bias and urged him to recuse himself from further proceedings.

5. Presidential council advises against visa-on-arrival cancellation: The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, on Monday, February 24, advised against the proposal by the Ministry of Interior to scrap the Visa-on-Arrival policy.

The council expressed concern that the policy may be counterproductive to the government’s drive to attract foreign investments.
