1. Peter Obi urges Nigerians to reject ‘My turn’ mentality, tribalism, religious bias in leadership : Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in Nigeria’s 2023 general elections, has called on Nigerians to reject the “my turn” syndrome, tribalism, and religious bias, which he says are hindering the nation’s progress.
Obi highlighted the recent election of Kemi Badenoch as the UK Conservative Party leader, noting that her success comes at a time when many Nigerians are doubting their potential.
2. Reps moves against stigmatisation, discrimination against tuberculosis patients: The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, Hon Amobi Godwin-Ogah, has said that the House of Representatives would enact a law to prohibit Stigma and discrimination against Tuberculosis patients in Nigeria.
He said this in Lagos at the Tuberculosis Law Retreat organised by the Stop TB Partnership and Lawyers Alert and attended by members of the National Assembly, officials of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, national and international experts, and people affected by TB.
3. IPMAN, PETROAN importing substandard petrol, says Dangote Refinery: Dangote Refinery has accused the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) and the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) of spreading misinformation regarding petrol pricing and quality.
In a press statement released on November 3, Dangote’s Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, asserted that any imported petrol sold at a price lower than that the refinery offers is substandard.
4. Northern govs, ACF, others demand minors’ release: The governors of Bauchi and Kano States and the Arewa Consultative Forum have demanded the release of the minors facing trial for treason in the Abuja Federal High Court.
The state commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Baba Halilu Dantiye, confirmed the development on November 3.
5. Police kill youth over N100 in Anambra: A police operative attached to the Otuocha Area Command in the Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State shot and killed a youth from the area on November 2.
It was gathered that the youth had a disagreement with the policemen at a checkpoint when one of them quickly pulled the trigger and shot him dead.
