The Federal Government has signed an agreement with the United Arab Emirates government to resume visa issuance to Nigerians who wish to travel to the Middle Eastern country.

The Minister of Information and Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced the development on his official page on X, he stated:

“Following successful talks and extensive, mutually beneficial negotiations between the government of the United Arab Emirates and the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, an agreement was reached allowing for the resumption of travel to the UAE for Nigerian passport holders.
“This agreement includes updated controls and conditions to facilitate obtaining a UAE visa. The resumption of visas will be effective from July 15, 2024. Nigerians wishing to learn more about the updated visa conditions from the UAE can visit the document verification hub for any additional information.”

In 2022, The UAE immigration authorities announced a visa ban on Nigerians looking to enter the country, adding that all submitted applications had been rejected with non-refundable fees due to diplomatic disputes. Also, at the time, Dubai’s Emirates Airline halted flights to Nigeria because the Central Bank of Nigeria couldn’t remit an estimated $85m in revenue to the UAE.

However, the federal government declared on July 15 that the issues had been resolved, and Nigerians can now obtain a visa to visit the UAE.

@donpanacio said: “Tinubu and his economic team will definitely get it right! The only problem is that he will still not get the praise and credit he deserves when things start moving in the right direction! They will figure it out! I believe in Mr President and his economic team!”
