- JAMB confirmed that Friday’s UTME results would be released before midnight
- Over 632,000 candidates had already accessed their Thursday examination scores
- The 2026 UTME had begun nationwide with more than two million candidates expected
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed that the second batch of results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be released before midnight on Saturday, offering relief to thousands of candidates awaiting their scores.
The announcement was made by JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, via his official X (formerly Twitter) account. He reassured candidates who sat for the examination on Friday, 17 April 2026, that their results would be made available later in the day.
“The results of the UTME conducted on Friday, 17 April 2026, will be released before midnight today,” Benjamin stated, signalling the board’s commitment to maintaining a swift turnaround in its result processing.
He further explained that an official statement would be issued immediately after the results are released, with real-time updates also shared across his social media platforms to keep candidates informed.
This development follows JAMB’s earlier release of results for candidates who took the examination on Thursday, the opening day of the nationwide exercise. According to the board, a total of 632,788 candidates who participated on that day were able to successfully access their scores.
The 2026 UTME, which commenced nationwide on Thursday, is projected to accommodate more than two million candidates. The examination is being conducted across accredited computer-based test (CBT) centres throughout the country, reflecting the scale and logistical complexity of one of Nigeria’s largest annual academic assessments.
JAMB’s phased release of results has become a standard practice in recent years, aimed at ensuring accuracy and efficiency while managing the high volume of candidates. The board has continued to emphasise transparency and prompt communication as key priorities throughout the examination period.
Candidates are advised to monitor official JAMB channels for updates and instructions on how to check their results once released.
JAMB calls on parents, candidates to speak up over UTME admissions
Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had urged parents and candidates to raise concerns if they believe their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scores merit admission, but they have not been offered placement in their desired institutions.
Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of JAMB, emphasised that many parents still resort to illegal means because they feel “there is no other path” after having “climbed the ladder to illegality.”
