  • The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board delisted 23 CBT centres nationwide after technical failures during the 2026 mock UTME
  • The decision followed an internal review that identified serious operational and technical deficiencies in the centres
  • The affected centres are spread across 11 states, including Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, and the FCT among others

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has delisted 23 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across Nigeria following technical failures recorded during the 2026 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The development was announced in the Board’s latest bulletin, signed by its Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, as preparations intensify for the 2026 UTME scheduled to take place nationwide from April 16 to April 25.

According to JAMB, the mock UTME serves as a critical assessment tool to identify centres that do not meet the required operational and technical standards before the main examination.

The Board revealed that its internal review uncovered several centres with significant shortcomings during the mock exercise.

“Following the conduct of the 2026 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has delisted 23 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for technical deficiencies
“The Board has also issued warnings to centres with minor technical issues, while one centre would no longer be used in any of the Board’s examinations,” the Board stated.

JAMB explained that the decision to delist the affected centres is part of broader efforts to protect the credibility of its examination process and ensure that only fully compliant centres are engaged for the main UTME.

The affected centres are spread across multiple states, including Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, and Plateau.

Among the delisted centres are Micben Seat of Wisdom Academy in Abia; Bishop Crowther Seminary CBT Centre and The Oracle Lens in Anambra; Derby’s Young ICT Centre in Bayelsa; and several others in Delta and Edo states.

In Lagos State, centres such as Florin High School (Ejigbo), Folbob CBT Centre (Lakowe), Great Kezino College (Ikorodu), Obans CBT Centre (Ikorodu), and Teesas Learning and CBT Centre (Lekki) were affected.

Other states, including Ogun, Osun, Oyo, and Plateau, also recorded delisted centres due to similar technical deficiencies.

The delisting follows widespread complaints from candidates and parents during the mock examination, with reports of prolonged delays, network disruptions, and system failures that prevented some centres from commencing the test.

Ahead of the 2026 UTME, JAMB has introduced stricter compliance measures, including enhanced monitoring systems aimed at curbing malpractice and ensuring seamless examination processes.

A total of 2,243,816 candidates registered for the 2026 UTME nationwide.

States with the highest number of candidates include Lagos State (321,814), Kaduna State (303,498), Federal Capital Territory (302,963), and Ogun State (137,156).

To improve logistics and accessibility, the Board increased the number of approved examination centres to 1,000 nationwide, up from fewer than 800 in 2025.

UTME 2026 begins soon as JAMB releases exam slips

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced that candidates registered for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) can now print their examination notification slips ahead of the nationwide test.

The Board urged all candidates to visit its official portal and download their slips, which contain essential examination details.

Candidates are required to log on to the JAMB website and click on “2026 UTME Slip Printing” to access and print their slips.
