The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) reported that in September 2024, more than N13 billion in public funds were unlawfully diverted in September 2024.
This was disclosed by Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, Chairman of the ICPC on Wednesday, October 2 during the launch of the Commission’s 2024-2028 Strategic Action Plan (SAP).

He said, “A key part of this initiative is our upcoming EthicsPod digital community, designed to foster a culture of transparency and accountability across public offices and everyday life nationwide.
“These efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy, forming the backbone of our SAP 2024-2028, which builds on our past achievements and charts a clear part for the future.
Aliyu guaranteed Nigerians that the ICPC would remain committed to bolstering its institutional integrity while broadening its collaborations with other stakeholders.
Fight against corruption is a key priority for the current administration, Fagbemi
He emphasised that this recovery is a testament to the Commission's relentless efforts to achieve its objectives.
Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice stated that the fight against corruption is a key priority for the current administration, highlighting that the government acknowledges corruption as the “cancer” that eats away the fabric of the society, undermines trust, weakens institutions and hampers the progress of the country.”
Fagbemi assured stakeholders of the ministry's commitment to providing the essential legal framework, resources, and guidance needed to achieve the action's objectives.
SAP is crucial for enhanced operations and collaboration, Aliyu
He emphasised that the launch of this SAP is both timely and crucial, serving as a definitive roadmap for the Commission to enhance its operations, improve transparency, and expand collaboration with stakeholders across all levels of government and the private sector.
He noted that the Commission is increasing its activities to expand the anti-corruption campaign by engaging citizens, civil society, and the media, following findings from the third National Corruption Survey.
He further said, “This SAP, in line with our ‘CARE for Impact’ initiative provides a comprehensive roadmap for achieving our goals over the next five years. It aligns with key national policies such as the Nigeria Agenda 2050, the National Anti-corruption Strategy 2022-2026/and the National Ethics and Integrity Policy, among others.”
AGF Lateef Fagbemi warns anti-graft agencies against false charges, others
Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that Lateef Fagbemi, Nigeria’s Attorney General, had called on anti-graft agencies to conduct thorough investigations before making arrests, warning against hasty and superficial actions.
Fagbemi called for evidence-based legal evaluations and warned against justifying corruption.
