The Progressive Governors Forum has dismissed reports alleging that Hope Uzodimma was removed as chairman of the forum, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement released on Thursday, May 7, the Director General of the forum, Folorunso Aluko, said there was no truth to the reports circulating across some media platforms.

“The attention of the Progressive Governors Forum has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating in some media platforms alleging the removal of its Chairman, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON,” the statement read.

The forum stressed that no meeting was convened where such a decision was discussed or approved, insisting that Uzodimma remains the substantive chairman of the body.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Progressive Governors Forum states categorically that the report is entirely false, baseless, and without an iota of truth,” the statement added.

According to the forum, its secretariat has no record of any resolution or decision removing the Imo State governor from office.

“The PGF secretariat has no record of, and is not aware of, any resolution removing the Chairman. His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, remains the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum,” the statement noted.

The forum also reiterated its commitment to unity and collaboration among governors elected on the platform of the ruling party.

It urged members of the public and media organisations to disregard the report and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary political tension.

The clarification comes amid growing speculation surrounding leadership changes within political groups ahead of key political activities in the country.

APC replaces Uzodimma with Masari as convention committee chairman

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had replaced Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, with former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, as Chairman of the party’s National Convention Central Coordination Committee ahead of its March 27 and 28, 2026 national convention.

The former chairman, Hope Uzodimma, has been reassigned as treasurer after a leadership reshuffle.
