Gunmen abduct Afenifere youth president, demand N100m ransom

Eniola Ojajuni, the National President of the Afenifere Youth Council, was abducted by armed men in Abuja on Monday, February 17. 

The gunmen reportedly shot Ojajuni twice before taking him captive.

In a statement released on Wednesday, February 19, Abiodun Aderohunmu, the National Secretary of the Afenifere Youth Council, confirmed the kidnapping and revealed that the assailants are demanding a ransom of N100 million for Ojajuni’s release.

“The Afenifere National Youths Council is deeply saddened to announce the kidnapping of its National President, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, in Abuja, During the attack, he sustained gunshot wounds, and we are extremely concerned about his safety.” the statement said. 

Aderohunmu called for urgent action from the Federal Government and security agencies to ensure Ojajuni’s safe return. He also appealed to Nigerians with any relevant information to assist in the rescue efforts.

A source within the council, who requested anonymity, confirmed the details of the attack. 

“They shot him twice. He has bullet wounds, and the kidnappers are insisting on N100 million or nothing,” the source stated.


Tax Reform Bills: Afenifere endorses Tinubu’s decision

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that Afenifere officially expressed its support for the proposed tax reform bills in Nigeria.  

The pan-Yoruba group emphasised that the tax reforms would benefit all Nigerians , including those in the northern regions, by enhancing infrastructure and services.
