- Philip Aduda held a closed-door meeting with Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda and APC’s National Working Committee in Abuja
- The development followed Aduda’s resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, fuelling rumours of a move to the APC
- Observers said the meeting could influence political dynamics in the FCT as parties began positioning ahead of future elections
Former Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Philip Aduda, is currently in a closed-door meeting with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, alongside members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
The meeting is taking place at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja and is seen as a significant political development following Aduda’s recent resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Aduda arrived at the venue accompanied by the newly elected Chairman of Bwari Area Council, Joshua Ishakwu, and his Kuje Area Council counterpart, Danjuma Shekwkolo.
Although details of the meeting remain undisclosed, the development has fuelled speculation about a possible defection of the former lawmaker to the ruling APC. His exit from the PDP was attributed to ongoing internal crises within the opposition party, which have led to a series of high-profile departures in recent times.
Political observers say the outcome of the meeting could have implications for the balance of power in the FCT, particularly as parties begin early positioning ahead of future elections.
Neither Aduda nor APC officials had issued an official statement on the outcome of the meeting as of the time of filing this report.
