The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has partnered with the Blessed Royal Jewel Foundation to distribute food and non-food items to victims of the September 10th floods and other vulnerable residents in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The aid package included bags of rice, mats, sugar, detergent, mosquito nets, coils, cooking oil, and Milo beverages, all intended to alleviate the hardship faced by the affected individuals.

Representing the Blessed Royal Jewel Foundation, Nigerian actor and film producer Uzee Usman, led the distribution, describing the initiative as timely given the devastation caused by the flood.

“Blessed Royal Jewel Foundation brought me to Maiduguri to support and help distribute food materials to those affected by the flood and to vulnerable people who need these items during this festive period,” Usman said.

He expressed his gratitude for being able to contribute to the welfare of those in need, especially at this challenging time.

FIRS representative, Akpana Benedicta, stated that the initiative aimed to ease the economic burden caused by the flooding.

She added, “FIRS is here to offer support for the tragedy that befell the citizens. We are here with food items, provisions, toiletries, and more to help them through this festive season.”

Benedicta acknowledged that the delivery was delayed due to scheduling but was happy to be able to carry out the distribution.

A total of 300 flood victims benefited from the donation, which served as a gesture of goodwill during the Christmas season.

Benedicta noted, “This is a small number we can accommodate for now, but the essence is to wish the flood victims in Borno a Merry Christmas with these palliatives.”

One of the beneficiaries, Abdulahi Bashir, expressed his gratitude, stating, “All thanks to the FIRS and Blessed Royal Jewel Foundation. We truly appreciate this gesture and pray that God continues to bless Nigeria and Nigerians.”
