The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued an urgent advisory for its citizens currently residing in Lebanon to consider returning home due to escalating violence linked to attacks on Hezbollah and other areas by the Israeli government.
The Nigerian Diaspora Commission emphasised the importance of prioritizing safety and urged Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing commercial flights for their return.
While reports indicate that many Nigerians have already relocated from the southern regions of Lebanon to safer areas, the commission cautioned all citizens to remain vigilant until a ceasefire is established.
“Thus far, no Nigerian has reported any incidents or injuries,” stated Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols at the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).
He reiterated the government’s commitment to the welfare and safety of its citizens abroad, assuring them that their wellbeing is a priority for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Nigerians in Lebanon are advised to maintain communication with the Nigerian Embassy for necessary guidance and support as the situation develops.
The Federal Government continues to monitor the security landscape in Lebanon closely, encouraging citizens to act swiftly to ensure their safety.
