Cabinet Reshuffle: Tinubu sacks 5 ministers, nominates 7 new ones

In a strategic move to reshuffle his administration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sacked five ministers from their duties and nominated seven new Ministers to his cabinet, aiming to streamline government processes and improve performance.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced the development at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, October 23, at the State House, Abuja.

Five ministers Tinubu sacked

The president acknowledged the service of the outgoing Federal Executive Council members and offered his best wishes for their future endeavours.

The five ministers who were dismissed are: 

1. Lola Ade-John (Minister of Tourism)

2. Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo (Minister of State for Housing and Development)

3. Uju Kennedy (Women Affairs)

4. Jamila Bio Ibrahim (Minister of Youth)

5. Tahir Mamman (Minister of Education).

7 new ministers nominated by Tinubu  

He pointed out that the newly nominated ministers must approach their appointments as an essential obligation to serve the nation.

The seven Ministers that were newly nominated are: 

1. Dr Nentawe Yilwatda (Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction)

2. Jamila Bio Ibrahim (Minister of Youth)

3. Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi (Minister of Labour & Employment)

3. Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu (Minister of State Foreign Affairs)

4. Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata (Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development) 

5. Suwaiba Said Ahmad PhD (Minister of State Education)

6. Dr Jumoke Oduwole (Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment (Trade and Investment)

7. Idi Mukhtar Maiha (Ministry of Livestock Development)

He appealed to the newly appointed members to be fully devoted to the administration's mission of ensuring Nigeria's progressive advancement, highlighting the significance of their dedication to fulfilling the government's objectives.

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu, during his visit to Beijing affirmed his commitment to making tough decisions necessary for Nigeria's progress. 

The President highlighted the productive discussions he had with Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, as well as his participation in the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
